Our Directors

Stephen R Turnham BSc FRICS (Managing Director) Chartered Building Surveyor

Steve qualified as a Chartered Building Surveyor in 1984 and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS) in 1991.  He has approaching 35 years property and construction industry experience in housing (public and private), commercial, leisure, education and retail.  His professional specialisations include building surveys, building defect  analysis and building pathology and he is often called upon to act in the capacity of expert witness.

Steve is married with two grown-up children and lives in a converted chapel listed as being of special interest.  During the late 1980’s he designed his own house and project managed the construction (for perhaps his most demanding client, wife Carol).  Steve was a keen sportsman and (perhaps somewhat foolishly for a professional man) is a shareholder in Tottenham Hotspur Football Club and a regular at Exeter Chiefs Sandy Park stadium.

Mark G Assinder BSc (Hons) MRICS (Practice Director) Chartered Building Surveyor

Mark qualified as a Chartered Building Surveyor in 1988.  He has a particular interest in the architectural side of building surveying and relishes being involved in the design of bespoke buildings, extensions and conversions of existing structures.  During the mid 1990’s Mark designed his own house and project managed the construction by skilled tradesmen - a very rewarding process which compressed years of experience into a thirteen week build period.

Mark is married to Dana (a professional member of the Society of Garden Designers with a fine art degree and a Royal Horticultural Society qualification).  It is not unknown for them to be separately involved in the same project (and not solely in the constantly evolving environment that is their garden).
